CERTIFIED PREVENTION SPECIALIST

This program provides training for health and human services workers specializing in substance abuse prevention. The coursework fulfills the educational requirements for becoming a Certified Prevention Specialist through the New Mexico Credentialing Board for Behavioral Health Professionals.

A supervised internship is required, in addition to the coursework, for state certification.

REQUIREMENTS:
HUSV150 Counseling and Prevention Ethics (.5 credits) 6 CEU's.
HUSV200 Psychology of Addictive Behavior (3 credits) or
HUSV205 Effects of Drug Abuse (3 credits) 50 CEU's each.
HUSV220 Substance Abuse Prevention (3 credits)) 50 CEU's.
HUSV195 Introduction to Prevention self-paced (3 credits) 50 CEU's.
HUSV 295 Prevention Specialist Test Prep (2 credits).
