1. What is the difference between LADAC and Certified Prevention?
LADAC is a license given by the state that allows the person holding the license to provide treatment to people with alcohol and drug problems. You must have at least an AA in Human Services to take the test for LADAC.
All of the courses can be used to get your AA.

Certified Prevention Specialists work with communities to prevent not only addiction, but problems with poverty, teenage pregnancy, and assisting in creating strong communities. They are not therapists.

2. Who should take these courses?

3. Do all these courses provide CEU's to maintain my license?
Yes, but please check the number of CEU's approved by your Board.
For example: HUSV 200 Psychology of Addictive Behavior is approved by the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board for 45 CEU's, but it is approved by the New Mexico Credentialing Board for Behavior Professionals for 50 CEU's.

4. Can I get all my CEU's from these classes?
Yes, because these are college classes not just online seminars. The NMCTPB has approved all classes for CEU's.

5. Does SFCC give out licenses or certification?
No, only the state can give out licenses and only the Credentialing Board can give out certification. Any certificates you receive from the college are ACADEMIC.

6. Are there any prerequisites for these classes?
There are NO prerequisites for these classes.

7. What do I need to take these classes?
You will need a computer with access to the Internet. You need to be able to send an email and an attachment. You need to register for these classes.

8. Are these classes self-paced?
Only one of the classes is self-paced. (HUSV 195) All other classes have regular assignments and due dates.

9. Will the Ethics class fulfill my requirement to maintain my license?
Yes.
